Growing up in a dysfunctional home 3/27/2005 8:48:54 AM
For the first time in awhile, I looked at my "stats page." A lot of people reading a lot of different things. But the ones about my childhood have been read the most. I've been letting go of some big secrets about my birth family. I'm sure in the eyes of my brothers, I may even be a traitor. "Suck it up, your a man. Get over it. That was 30 years ago." Yes it was, but it still haunts me to this day. The power I received from it, was destructive, my writings have helped me find a new source of contentment and peace, which years ago I only thought was achieved through alcohol or drugs. It's a major "high" to get an email from different parts of this country (and the world) saying that my writings have helped them.
The part I'm having trouble dealing with is trying to find my "niche" in this written world. People tell me about their alcoholic past, while others contact me about abuse they received as a child, while still others contact me about cancer. These subjects and so much more, are near and dear to me, but just one - any one - is not who I am.
