I am currently trying to get the rights back for my novel, Teacher on the Run, and my soon to be published poetry book, Silver Sighs. I feel that Publish America has not been upfront with me about their practices. I did not realize, when I signed the contract, that standard royalties are 40%, not the 8-12% that Publish America pays. Also, I did not realize that do not pay royalties on the biannual payment date, unless they have already been paid for the sales, or that they would deny having any knowledge of any booksales at all, (when I know I have sold at least 35 this year) and would send out a cheque for $0.00. How callous is that? I also didn't realize what I w as doing, when I signed over rights for the novel for seven years. To my knowledge, Publish America has done nothing to promote my book, except for getting it on Amazon, Barnes and Noble etc online sites. For my first booksigning, a bookstore ordered several copies of my book from Publish America. Those copies never arrived. Publish America said in an email, that it was my fault if the copies didn't arrive on time. They also said they are unable to accept snail mail correspondence, even a registered letter requesting cancellation of my novel. What kind of business practise is this? Publish America, I want out.
