On April 25, 2006 I received a registered letter from Publish America informing me that they are returning all rights to me for Teacher on the Run and Silver Sighs. I am very glad that they will not be publishing Silver Sighs as it contains some highly personal poems which I wrote while undergoing treatment for breast cancer. That episode of my life is behind me now, Thank God and I really don't want to appear as though I am exploiting the experience, profiting from my trials as some people do. 7I just want to forget about it and enjoy my perfect health and life. I'm not sure how I feel about the termination of the publication of Teacher on the Run. I have the rights back for it, but the death knell has been rung with respects to this novel. I am sad to bid it goodbye as I put a lot of work into it and would like to improve it even more by utilizing my recent knowledge about Japan that I have gained from my Japanese students. However, I understand that publishers do not want to publish previously published material even if it has been rewritten. And so, I bid a sad adieu to Teacher on the Run (retitled Not in Nagoya.)
