"Bonnie's Home"

You know you've come home when
you open the door and love bids you,
enter.  She surrounds you with arms
held open wide:  no pretenses.  She
holds a quilt to wrap you in words of
sadness and joy, storms and humor,
threaded throughout with golden
filaments of Grace.

You know you've come home when
you read one of her poems:  she's
had a full life, no, several, if her lines
are any indication.  Most of them are
true, but some have been written
with a twinkle in her eye:  as delicious
as the cup of tea she offers.  Always
thinking of others.

You know you've come home when
you've had a hard day and she slips
prayers around your body, comfort
and warmth soothing tired souls:  it's
better than chicken soup.  I look out
of the windows at the Colorado peaks
outside and think, I could stay here,
forever.  I'm home.
