A Writer's Clarity of Vision 1/10/2008 9:23:30 PM
There are times when, to the writer, or any person blessed with a combination of reasonable intellect and imagination, that everything seems so transparent, so obvious, that writing about anything seems futile... And so these are the first words I have written in some two months. Every idea, every image, every insight that flits through my mind seems dreary, dull and obvious.
Worse, reading my miscellaneous scribblings of the past year, the glistering multi-hued visions that once possessed my mind and my soul resemble nothing more than the litter strewn streets of a dead city where yesterday's news is the only promise of tomorrow.
When I contemplate the possibility of an infinity of universes created on every act of human observation as the quantum function collapses into new branches of reality, the winds of eternity ejaculate knives of despair into my synapses, overloading my feeble senses with knowledge of god's death.
And then I cut myself off. There's no point in discussion, not even with those I love. You see - everything's already said.
So what purpose in pondering, analysing, synthesising the outpourings of my mind...? Or of yours, for that matter?
I really think I need to take up parachuting again. Maybe that will drive me out of the gray-shadowed, demon haunted recess from which there seems no way out.
