I penned this observation in response to a rather cynical post I read today concerning Barak Obama. here are my thoughts on the man and the reasons for his success... Frank,
From a distance (I am a South African), I would comment as follows:
The world beyond the USA wants your country back in the community of nations as a respected partner - not the pariah it has become.
Obama seems to offer a break from a truly dreadful period of American history. It seems ingenuous to argue that someone in his mid fourties does not understand foreign policy - anyone who merely reads prolifically will, by that age, have a superb knowledge of both history and currentr affairs. The man is not a child.
Unfortunately, many people suppose advanced age to be a pre-requisite for wisdom, and this is a false belief.
Has it occurred to you that very old leaders are a severe risk to a nation inasmuch that they live in a world that has passed them by?
This is even true of Hillary, who was comprehensively out manoevered by a man approaching middle age who exhudes youth and the aspirations and values of youth. McCain and to some extent Hillary are yesterday's people.
This is an uncomfortable truth for the older generation, but the truth is, history has finally passed them by. It's not possible to observe the interconnected light-speed technology driven world at a distance and live in the past. Obama lives in the modern world. The bygone generation does not. And that's the change we are seeing now in the USA.
Good luck to you and all of your fellow Americans. I believe Obama will restore America's future and thereby benefit all human beings.
