The story of Mary and Martha found in Luke 10:38-41 reveals that we often prioritize what we think is important over spending time in total submission to the Lord..We may very well welcome Jesus into our lives, our homes, our situations, BUT, are we too busy telling Jesus what we need rather than listening to Him and getting instruction?

I can see Martha now, as so many of us, hurrying about being anxious and vexed by the multitude of distractions that come with daily living. Then I see Mary, humbling sitting at the Savior's feet. She is not anxious, nor distracted. She knows that this time with Jesus is important; for His words are spirit and life. It is in this position of worship, humility, intimacy and earnest attention that we receive the instruction, strength and wisdom to be trained and in turn train up a child. It is in this position that one generation to another (child, grandchild or the village child) will, too, understand the true riches and be sanctified in truth.God's word gives this warning: If we do not teach the children ,future generations will cease to follow His word. 

O My people, listen to my teaching, open your ears to what I am saying, for I will speak to you in a parable. I will teach you hidden lessons from our past - stories we have heard and know; stories our ancestors handed down to us. we will not hide these truths from our children but will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord. we will tell of His power and the mighty miracles He did. For He issued his decree to Jacob; He gave His laws to Israel. He commanded our ancestors to teach them to their children, so the next generation might know them, even the children not yet born - that they in turn might teach their children so each generation can set its hope anew on God, remembering His glorious miracles and obey His commands. Then they will will not be like their anccestors- stubborn, rebellious and unfaithful, refusing to give their hearts to God.  Psalm 78: 1-8 NLT Student's Life Application Bible

As we sit at the Savior's feet, may the Sovereign God our Father establish the work of our hands. We must bless the children and teach them in love and meekness being holy examples of God's witness in the earth whose life is found to be faithful to God.
