THE POWER OF TRADITION 12/29/2018 10:09:02 AM
Reflecting on traditions both festive and sacred What a glorious season of celebration.
Many traditions spanning hundreds of years are passed down and some new ones started.
Three holidays at this time of the yeat come to mind.
They are Christmas, New Years and Kwanzaa.
Each of great significance in spiritual.mral and personal application, attribution and impartation for generations of family and community.
This is also a season of reflection.
A season of resolution and decision making.
As we prepare to enter the New Year,
the song AULD LANG SYNE Came to mind.
The Scottish tune meaning to forget things long past.
The lyrics are:
Should old acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind
Should old acquaintance be forgot and days of Auld Lang zsyne.
While there may be instances of merit,
I find myself so very thankful for lessons learned which promoted and developed character,endurance and opportunities as ROMANS 8:28 affirms, working together for my good.
In rembering days long past i share this testimony.
Looking back, paying forward
When I think of past experiences much has been gained from the investment and ground work of another.
I speak specifically of becoming acquainted with the esteemed
Mrs. Bea Moten Foster now present with the LORD (2Corinthians 5:8), who was owner/ publisher of the former newspaper The Muncie Times
Bea was more than my employer but a dear and devoted friend and mentor.
She had such a heart of giving and inspiring others and a helping hand for people and because of her open door policy,
I laughing called her office
The Muncie Times Social Service Agency.
One of the most impactful concepts.she lived by in abiding faith was "Never accept no from the person who doesn't have the authority to say yes."
So yes there are some things of the past we must let go... more readily our acquaintance and practice behavior and tradition of sin and our past failures for GOD is doing a new thing.
2 CORINTHIANS 5:17
Yet maintain a grateful are for what prepared you/us to receive the overflow ofthe BLESSINGS GOD HAS PREPARED
MAYTHE TRADITIONS WE PASS DOWN BREAK EVERY GENERATIONAL CURSE AS IN HIM WE LIVE. MOVE AND HAVE OUR BEING.
