Well, it's Wednesday already and I've been here in Warwick for four days and Tabitha is still running up the lane and the engine is still running. Time has just gone by and not a word written yet! Does anyone else have this problem?
I thought by now things would have moved on one way or another but daughter and dogs have somehow filled up the days. I'm off up to my cousin's today for an overnighter so Tabitha and Michael will just have to stay where they are a bit longer. Hopefully Friday will see a bit of progress.
Back at home the rain has now set in as I knew it would once July started - thank goodness we are not in the Rural Stewardship Scheme any longer (both books) and have got the silage done in June. Richard is enjoying a few days peace and quiet with not a lot of work to do whilst I am down here. At least the rain will be helping the grass to regrow ready for the cows to move into their maternity fields in a week or two. Calving starts at the beginning of September - 19 this time round so life will be busy then! Powerhouse the bull was very potent and seemed to have got the cows pregnant at the first or second time of asking (euphemism - I don't think he asked!) which means that most of the calves should be born within six weeks. Always one of my favourite times in farming, but it can be fraught with worries too (both books, but especially TLoLA where our very first calving time is chronicled).
