Low Arvie and the 'thrill' of free publicity 8/11/2010 10:37:16 PM

I just had to blog today about our appearance in 'Dumfries and Galloway Life' magazine! I was thrilled when we were called by their feature writer to appear in September's edition as part of an article about our village. The lady came and spoke to me about Low Arvie and how we came to be here and what has happened to us since we bought the farm.
Then a photographer came and took hundreds of photos of us and my two books. The article is now published and the writeup is OK but the photograph is - well, let's just say not what I'd hoped. No pic of the books and I look about 90, whilst Richard looks a sandwich short of a picnic. However Beauty (our fasvourite cow) certainly lives up to her name and looks stunning! I'm glad that at least one of us does!! Still I suppose we can't grumble really as it cost us nothing!
I feel a lot better since coming back North. The intensity of my cousin-in-law's terrible illness has subsdided a little, now that I am not so near to it, although, of course, its still dreadful.
I have been busy social networking on LinkedIn and have found several new connections in the US this week. Just this morning I had a mail from a lady in NY who 'thinks I sound like a great lady' - very encouraging. I love this new world of connecting with people from around the world, sharing thoughts and opinions, but it makes me want to meet them all. I now have over 40 primary connections and through them can link to over a million other people - awe inspiring!
