it is Saturday morning and still rather overcast outside
making the rooms in my house dark and dingy.My sitting
room has a full length bay window and the bedroom has two
large long arched windows similar to those found in Norman
churches.Despite all this the house in many ways is like an
old fashioned mediterranean dwelling,built so that the sun
is kept firmly out! The large house,now flats,was built in
1910 and for some time functioned as a shool.When I moved
here in 2001 ,it was surrounded by many trees but they
caught a disease and died,The plum trees were cut down some
years later and only the apple tree and a few at the
entrance to the drive remain ,giving the place a rather
bare look. listening to "sounds of the sixties" -My usual
Saturday morning passtime has been observed.On mornings
like these I long for the buzz of saturday mornings in
London. by train ,it is only two and a half hours ftom
here yet because of high fares it is impossible to travel
on impulse.Journeys have to be planned in advance.To buy
some first class tickets , travelling on the same day,
costs more than a flight to the U.S.A..The supermarket
delivery should be here shortly and then I can have
breakfast
