Nice is nice

official!spring Is Here!This morning when I went out the
sky was bright blue,the sun was shining,yellows daffodils
were everywhere and it was also warm.We have not had a
true spring for years-last March we had heavy snow!
I later stayed for tea and coffee at Saint Thomas .This is
a huge Victorian church built at the bottom of a grassy
hill in its own grounds,today bright with Spring flowers.It
offers A high Anglican mass and also an Ethiopian
Orthodox every week.I got into conversation with someone
who lived in London but moved up here recently he started
to talk about Nice on the Cote D`azure one of his favourite
places and also one of mine.A very atmospheric city with
its multi coloured Russian church ,blue, blue sea and
former Russian palaces,now hotels such as the Negresco.A
stunning location I often ate ice cream on the Promenade
des Anglais looking out to the sea.On this street Isadora
Duncan died when her scarf got caught in a car wheel and in
the neighbouring streets that Chekov lived and wrote and
Russian royalty played and escaped winter.
As I walked home today the streets were full of
people,parks were crowded and roads were busy as people
made the most of the sunshine.The sun made me think of
Nice .How nice it would be to fly there at the drop of a
hat.I do believe thet with rapid advancement in travel and
technology that it will be possible in another fifty years
to be transported to distant destinations in a matter of
minutes ,at the press of a button.Magic? yes but that was
how our Medieval forefathers would have interpreted the
mobile phone and television.Well..beam me up Scotty
.
