the week in retrospect

It has been a long and somewhat dramatic week in the
history of my world.Coming to terms with my IT skills or
lack of them seemed to take up most of the earlier part of
the week and I am still trying to work out some issues on
my new computer in order to complete my promotional video
for my novel A Cafe In Arcadia . I have however made lots
of progress on my new novel in waiting " The Winding
Streets Of Kolonaki."
I took the train to London on Thursday night and
attended the deeply moving service of the Stavron at the
Cathedral of Aghia Sophia in Bayswater.Friday was bright
and sunny in LONDON as I looked out of my window on
Pembrooke Square in Notting Hill Gate. I had a deliciuos
vegetarian lunch at the Greek Farmer on Westbourne Grove
. The Annunciation Church in Marble Arch - mentioned in my
book-celebrated the Passion of Good Friday at 3pm .In a
dark and subdued building the choir gave a pleasing
rendition of De Victorias "Crux Fidelis"to the sparsly
attended gathering.After the formal passion was over,
service at Aghia Sophia started at 7.30 on a sunny
Good Friday evening and I arrived early in order
to get a seat,all were however taken,the beautiful
service was soon packed to overflowing.The Epitaphios
procession -always held outside- was held inside.This
seemed to take away an important part of the ritual.The
Choir sang the Good Friday hymns of" i zoi in tafon" and"
ae gennae passe "which the people sang along with. The
sepulcher itself was decked in white lillies and
roses.White candles surrounded its roof .It lasted several hours
and finished after eleven . Ill fitting shoes, however, and a long time
on my feet tested religiosity to its limits!!.I went onto the
streets OF Bays water and walked up to Notting Hill where
LONDON was ejoying a lively night out on the eve of a long
weekend.
