Tuesday thoughts

As Conchita Wursts winning Euphoria and the rest of Saturday
nights entrants fade but turn into pan european hits clogging
the i tunes charts all over Europe there has been a lot in
the press about Europes tolerance,A blow against
reactionary regimes, a blow against Putin, a stand with
liberal western culture and Russia, Sheer camp fun ,
,Conchita won because of her beard,and all the rest .
Austria won Saturdays Eurovision Song Contest because it was
a good strong song with a vocal as powerful as Bassey
singing a Bond theme.Forget the politics ,forget the
beard..a talented act who could sing won!!
I recieved an invitation to the St Andrews society of Athens
anual Ball today to be held in Glyfada, the Beverly Hills
of Athens.A celebration of all things Scottish and
Scottish/Greek.How nice it would be to attend but alas so
far away and too much to do here.
I ave come to the conclusion that I really should forget
all about teaching and chanel some of my energy into some
other career.M y years in education have brought me to the
point of wondering why education does so little to enhance
people . I t does not seem to gift people with wisdom but
often the opposite. I think of some of the awful characters
that passed as teachers at kirklees College where i once
worked. How mediocre they were and how rude,full of
themselves and arrogant . Of course it is easy to see that
this came about as a result of their sheer ignorance but
that was what seemed to do the trick to please those in
charge. So few people seem to grasp education as a key to
pursue knowledge. Its all about I GOT A 1.1 0R A 2.1
What a tangled web. I long for a Greek meal with retsina
,music and a dance in Glyfada or a return to Saturday and
the fairytale world of Eurovision which turns back into a
pumpkin at midnight but whos shoe is always left behind.
