A Pleasant lunch

Yesterday saw day two of a heatwave and boy was it hot.The
much talked about heatwave ,predicted to last fifty days
,is now well underway. I went to a Greek restaurant in
Manchester and lunched on the veranda.Manchester was busy
with a premier rugby match and the annual marathon both
on.I dont like eating alone in reastaurants and usually do
it out of neccesity rather than choice. A group of women
two daughters and their mothers came and sat next to
me.They soon began to chat and after sometime bought me a
brandy. It turned out to be an unexpectedly nice day and
proves how events and cicumstances can change in the face
of pleasant unexpected company.
The new BBC ,UK music charts were revealed yesterday with
several songs from last weeks Eurovision Song Contest in
the top 50 and top 100 in general. these include the French
song that came last.It is a pity that they do not seem to
be on the radio 2 playlist, despite , their already proven
popularity.
A friend on the Isle of Man, which is not part of the United
Kingdom,but an independant country, emailed me . I have
never been to the island and wonder how its own special
culture and individuality are manifested.
This morning I walked down to the small Mencap cafe and
had breakfast in its tiny courtyard which includes a small
herb garden. I sat inthe shade and wrote two more chapters
of my new book.The Winding Streets Of Kolonaki. Which I
HAVE NOW 90% completed.
