Raccoon kids are pretty typical toddler to preschool behavior
This aging process gets downright tiresome, doesn't it, my legs etc all work, but my get up and go gets tired a lot faster than it ever did before.
I don't accomplish nearly as much as I did when younger, and with letting the yard just go to seed so to speak for the last 2 summers there is a heap of work to do this year, not sure i'll get it all done by the time school starts in the fall.
On the other hand, the beds that are cleaned out should look good in the spring, and after I retire end of the school term i'll tackle the rest.
Now that we no longer have so many critters outside, the dogs in the dog yard, at one time 7 little throwaways, abandoned and left behinds, have aged and died.
The last little throwaway moved into the house last winter when it was so dreadfully cold, and Minne will live out her life inside with family as Sadie and Gertie before her did.
My Shadow, Thoroughbred, died nearly 2 years ago and Husband's Quarter Horse before that etc., so now, while there are heifers in the pasture, they belong to the neighbor kid who brings them over to eat the grass, and Husband's brother feeds the cats and Minnie and Guye, our dachsie left behind who has always been a house dog.
We can visit Son and family some in Kansas city and that is good.
Weather has been warming; I am guzzling water, and not eating much food, I never eat much food, but the hot weather causes even that to diminish.
I drink Bolthouse coffee or chocolate drink made with lots of protein in it, they make it in Bakersfield, California and I keep my protein up that way during the summer, food just is not too interesting when it is blazing hot and hypoglycemia means I need the protein.
It rained a little in the night, weather people had talked as though it might be a pretty good downpour, but wasn't that much. Nice though. It cooled the air, and everything is green.
I think the drought here in this part of north along the Kansas border area of Oklahoma has finally broken the drought, they still talk drought in Tulsa and beyond where a pretty good rain storm is in session.
Air is supposed to cool some beginning today and into the weekend, they are talking upper 60s, amazing, summer in Oklahoma in the 60s!
We plan to go to KC on Wednesday or Thursday to visit Son and his family and stay until Monday or Tuesday ... depends on how antsy Husband gets to pack and go.
Raccoons on the porch in the nite were out in full force, lots of tinys playing in water and eating a little of the dog food. Mom's visiting and eating, and keeping watchful eyes on little ones.
A new, wandering, lovely feline was sitting just beyond the Oasis this am early calling, I reminded him that the food pan is over by the den door, and coyotes also can hear so he quieted down.
Lovely lad, so far too shy to come and sit, but does sit and talk from a short distance and answers to the name Panda, wonder if his people called him Panda when he was a little boy and then, when they couldn't find someone to give him to just brought him out and set him into the pasture. Happens a lot.
The lucky ones make it to the house where there is food and water and trees to climb in case of danger.
Lots of butterflies this year. Life is good living on my hill.
