Saturdays Thoughts and A Little Pasta

There is not much to interest me this Saturday night.Summer
has made a bid to stay for a few months at least but it is
still challenged and its bid opposed by the blustery ,windy
weather that is determined not to let go of its much
exceeded reign Summers claim to the throne suppressed its
rule now far overdue.
Most of my family are preoccupied with the major European
football championship airing live on TV.
Daisy the dog is settling down nicely,lapping up all the love
and attention being showered on her as well as
the tasty canine goodies purchased at the pet shop .
A friend has just phoned from London and spoke of a dinner
with an old friend ,a debutant in the early fifties now an
old woman in her eighties.They discussed ,so Im told the
London of the 1950s and how elegant and gentile it once all
was and how they feel it has degenerated into some awful
overcrowded abbiss of in your face obscenity,a place they no
longer feel at home in and a place they would rather these
days avoid.
I am seriously considering returning to higher education to
do a Phd but will funds allow me and are there funds
available from some quarter ,after, all thinks I,have I not
done enough voluntary work in the past?Yes a return to the
challenges and excitement of academia would be most welcome
as would the fruits of its outcome'
I opened a bottle of red wine in the kitchen earlier this
evening as I made dinner and poured it into a large class
and drank as I reverted back to one of my old save money
student recipes invented by me.If you would like to try this
scrummy cheap dish then here we go
A chop three garlic cloves and two onions fry in olive oil
B grate three large carrots and add to the rest stirring slowly
C add two tins of chopped tomatoes
D add oregano,chicken or pork stock cube (or vegetable if you are veggie)
E salt and pepper plus a tea spoon of sugar
F Add a liberal amunt of frozen peas .
G bring to boil and simmer for around 15mins
H. boil spaggetti,drain then add butter
I. add sauce to the spaggetti and eat.
For best results leave after cooked to marinate overnight.
Et voila!! Pasta alla Stefano!
