One Hell of A Few Weeks

It has been a month or more of some historic landmarks.The
UK decision to pull out of the European Union .England`s
overwhealming vote to pull out while both Scotland and
Northern Ireland voted Overwhealmingly to remain.All this
of course followed by weeks of political chaos and turmoil
as Cameron resigned and Tory politicians schemed and
coveted the title of Prime Minister .Colbyn ,rejected by
many leading Labour MPs,refusing to resign and still
popular with the youthful grass roots.Nicola Sturgeon
defiantly stating that Scotland would not leave the
European Union.The EU referendum had been preceeded days
before by the brutal gunning down in a Yorkshire Street of
popular MP Jo Cox by a Right Wing extremist and The mass
murder in Orlando by a young man who killed a part of
himself that he did not like .This past week we have seen
the gunning down of several policeman in a Dallas Street
which followed the murder of a Black man by police
elsewhere in the USA.Now today the evil murder of more than
eighty people at a Bastille DAy celebration in the
beautiful and special city of Nice ,one of my favourite
places.The atrocity happening only yards from where I once
lodged. Ramadan violated by the horrific mass murder of
hundreds of Iraqis in a festive mood while they shopped for
Eid presents only days after a fatal attack at Istanbul
Airport .Has the world ,once again gone mad?
I remember clearly living through the IRA bombing campaine
at its height in London in the 80s and 90s and the uneasy
feeling on the tube following bomb attacks as well as the
near misses when places I frequented and passed
through regularly were hit by terrorists.
One week a mysterious van appeared outside our block of
flats in Athens.It was infact a car bombe which exploded
with the most deafning sound I have ever heard.It was
supposidly the work of the mysterious terrorist group
November 17th which carried out several bombe attacks in
the Greek capital and of whom very little was known.
No doubt carnage will continue until what?and of course we
will always ask why?;cliched though that may be.
