Have you ever felt helpless, not a thing you could do,
When something is being taken away from you.
You’ve tried everything, and then tried it again,
But try as you may you just can’t seem to win.
Suppose that an oak tree, mighty and tall,
Wanted to keep all his leaves in the fall.
He’s no way to hold them, he can’t make them stay.
When autumn’s wind comes, and just blows them away.
Its out of his hands, it doesn’t seem fair,
That what once was his will no longer be there.
His roots deep in the ground, he’s no choice but to stay,
And watch all the leaves that he loved blow away.
Well expressed in words... as a father I can feel that helpless feeling
