I am blessed with a friend that is so dear to me,
A wonderful lady living right by the sea.
She has blessed my life in so many ways,
She has given me things that I could never repay.

An online bingo game is where it began,
That’s where we became friends as if it were planned.
Our friendship has grown and it is so plain to see,
That it has grown to a friendship that always will be.

It was her that encouraged and showed me the way,
To pick up a pen, and write everyday.
Now when I write a poem like the one about “Hank”,
I know in my mind that I have Smoke to thank.

Smoke is a fighter and I say with pride,
That if I faced a battle she would be on my side.
Now cancer tries to give her a fight that is new,
But with Smoke cancers bit off more than it can chew.

I wish that everyone in their lifetime,
Could find them a friend like this dear one of mine.
She is my buddy, she is good down home folk,
I thank God for the day he introduced me to Smoke.
