A sky as blue as blue can be
A perfect day for you and me
A day to make most any dream come true .

A day you know the sun will shine
The kind that warms your heart and mine
In a way that only a day like this can do.

But then the gray clouds fill the sky
To mask the blue that’s up so high
And hides the sun that’s shining up above.

The day of sunshine turns to gloom
The perfect day ends way too soon
The day is lost that we have come to love.

And then the rain falls from the sky
Just as the tears fall from our eyes
As it seems the sunny days are gone for good.

Our hearts are broken so it seems
The rain has washed away our dreams
We long for the sun to shine the way it should.

Then all at once the gray clouds part
And the sun creates its work of art
And paints a rainbow in the sky for all to see.

And now the sun is shining proud
To tell us all that behind those clouds
A blue sky lies in wait for you and me.
