I recall the house we lived in When I was just a kid I can see the tree we used to climb And the places that we hid I still hear my mother calling For us kids to come and eat As I climbed down from my tree house Sheltered from the summer heat Of my memories these are just a few I could tell of many more But the memory in my mind tonight Is a squeaky old screen door It�s hinges worn and rusty One long spring to keep it closed If we let it slam too often Mom was sure to let us know! Though it wasn�t very pretty It did the job no doubt It let the evening breezes in And kept the insects out That screen door had a special sound That I remember to this day Just another childhood memory That is in my mind to stay I sometimes think that all our minds Are filled with doors, you see Our memories kept behind the doors Some under lock and key But then some special memories Have a screen door where they stay So we can catch a breeze in passing To take us back to some past day Every now and then A special memory I will find As I look into the past Through the screen doors of my mind Jack Roberts � July 26, 2003

Some of myy memories and thoughts are covered with cobwebs and sadness!!

My friend..I cannot tell you
how much this touched my heart.
It made me cry as it brought
back childhood memories of my
own screen door. Their was eight
children in my family growing up..
that poor screen door had a hard
time! Thanks for taking me back
to a place I hadn't visited in a
long time...
