I've never been able to write a good poem about this subject. They always get too sentimental or too maudlin or something. I'm glad somebody else has done it.

A true friend is so hard to find Jack. Sounds like you are indeed a true friend to someone. Some say they are friends of all. That may be so, but a true friend is someone in your life who is more precious than diamonds; more precious than gold. The emotional support from a true friend is immeasurable. To me a friend is somebody that is willing to tell you something for you own good, even if they know it's going to make you mad, and still be there when it's time to make up.
