A response to my last poem, this time the character answers back at Sympathy for the Author.

Poem Artwork

I am but a character

subjected to a book

I did not ask to be here

nor portrayed as I look,

sometimes an arch villian

or fool on the edge

when all the time

all I really am

is something in his head.

Trick cyclists try and analize me

stich me up

into patterns of life

what they do not understand is

how I have affected their lives,

for them to believe

that I really exist

is the craziest notion

I'm a character

just a wisp.

A name written then forgotten

left on a shelf for life,

repeating over and over

the same old lines.

Who would be a character

in some crazy book

well I am

and if you do not believe me

come and take a look.

Intriguing and impressive. I like the symbolism used in this composition. A poetic grand to me, read and appreciated.

Gratefully,
