All praise for the English language

that seems to live

in a place that

one sometimes does not understand,

where letters appear

that seem to not fit

and expressions defy explanation.

Now if I said

keep it under your hat

you might reply

you dont wear one,

you would be excused

from not understanding

it has nothing to do with a hat

nor what lies beneath it

you see that is what I mean

about the English language.

Oh I do despair

that a Knife

has a K where?

right at the begining

where its not sounding

so why on Earth is it there?

But rejoice it is all right

you see it all comes out in the wash

because we can sort it out in a Jiffy.
