The world over, nations have called for holy days (holidays). Usually granted by kings and emperors, to give the masses time to cement their loyalty to the various state religions required to keep them in relative harmony and appeased with occasional celebration.

Formost of these holy days is Christmas, worldwide. Named after Jesus Christ, Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus. And, because it is so close to the New Year celebration, most governments around the world give time off from work to celebrate both.

Hence, we have all this travel for getting together with family and friends, all this gift giving that was supposedly started by three wise men who came to give Jesus gifts as a baby, and the resulting celebratory songs (Christmas carols) and goodwill stories portrayed in books and movies and on television. Christmas has become big business.

But the best part of Christmas is going out of the way to rekindle friendship and sharing.

it is still true today

But You, still You, only You, the Lord and Creator of all the worlds. True, the worldview has changed, but there are still some who believe.

Kings and Kingdoms will all pass away...
But our LORD is sovereign; He is here to stay!
