Writers' Block rears its' ugly head...but luckily, once I wrote this silly poem, I "unblocked" and am now doing the manuscript editing I NEED to be doing!!

I don’t know why this is so tough -
Polishing my diamond in the rough.

The publisher gave me things to do;
Removals and additions too.

But every time I start to change,
My thoughts just seem to rearrange.

I remember something I didn’t buy,
Or watch the clouds up in the sky,
Or take the cat out for a walk,
Or call my sister so we can talk,
Or write a poem or submit a story,
Or plant some seeds like morning glories,
Or mow the lawn and rake the grass,
Or stare at the computer ‘til the mood has passed.

Before too long the publisher will say,
“You waited too long - so go away!”

I guess I’d better quit this stall,
My book deserves it after all.

Goodbye cruel world - I’m off to edit
Some day my “fans” will give me credit!
