Nicht Sturzen

(Do Not Drop)

Sorrow's share - if to drop a pity dwells

Quickly cloak with excuses the pitiful eye

But must through the midnight screams

Be plagued by the un-marriage hearse;

I died inside before the torment came

And felt my heart falling inside -

Now blazing, harsh red & unremembered;

“Oh, very convincing, bravo, bravo!” ‘they’ said,

In my blinded by love eye – an unanswerable fear;

I stood-alone as ‘they’ cleft me in half –

By the “what I saw”, an unbearable guilt

Now comes the swelled tear –

Pleading for mercy it groans

Once filled with undying love,

Now with emotional scars and moralities silt

Mourned till I’m self-dead;

The wanton tear hangs by a withered thread

Hemmed by misery – quickly made

Now an insignificant, un-beauteous thing;

‘They’ planned all along to tear my blind-sided eye

No merciful finger reaching out –

Were far too hard for the digestion of the cry  . . .

I pleaded, “Do not drop,” and then asked ‘they’

One last time, to please hold me.

T&D,
To start with, I love the title! The single tear, is usually the most powerful...yet fragile, like blown glass.

A dynamic pen here!

Holy Schmoley Fried Frijole Tinky Doodle ...

I was spellbound with this splendid write Sissy. This collaboration is pressing you into new territory. Kudos to your friend and the thoughts and words that you two have sculpted together.

I felt as if the tear clinging or falling was significant on different levels.

Perhaps of a failing personal relationship that had reached an impasse' of lovelessness - or the relationship with a friend, or child, that was abusing drugs or was satiated with a sinful lifestyle that just didn't listen to reason.

I love how you the left the reader with an unresolved hope.

Brava Sissy!

Wonderful and very powerful write...I have been so angry before that I refused to cry, where people could see anyway...then I would steal away and cry allowing myself to cleanse on the inside. Your write reminds me of a child that was in the Kindergarten room across the hall from my classroom a couple of years ago...it had been so abused for it short number of days that there were no tears left to cry, until finally the little child was removed from the home, on the day that the she was removed from the school, she shed a few tears, silent as they were I thought I saw a smile in her eyes, they were tears of joy, that she would not be abused anymore...powerful write my friend...your style is amazing, never retire that pen.

The pain of being treated badly comes out well in this poem and yet one cannot but admire the courage that you would not want to cry in front of such an assault on the soul. Powerful poem. Victor

Quite a teasing poem. Had to read it a few times to understand the tension and conflict. Finally dawned that the plea was for the tear not to drop. I worked with men and women with acute social and behavioural problems. One woman had been through so many travails - many self inflicted - that she had no more tears left to drop. She felt that mercy and sincerity had all passed her by. Trouble was, they had parked themselves nearby but she could no longer recognise these either. Sad.
