" Rogue"

The sea doors open wide

Opens wide for thee

I am mischievous, a rogue

Not obedient – I seek & destroy.

I pace the sea in a wondrous cold

Round in shape with a dismal sheen

Tread the salt water, a shadow, a foe

I am very explosive by nature.

The sea breeze blows

Then comes the fog & mist

The furrow follows thee

I diminish hope as it withers at the root.

Shipmates that spot thee

In their sore distress

Fain from speaking

As if choked by fire and soot.

I take the form of a –

speck, a mist, a shape

I plunge, I tack, they veer

As the ship approaches, the horror follows . .

Throats un-slake, lips blacken & bake

Into the sea the shipmates plummet

The ship sinks with upright keel

In an unheard whisper, into a watery grave.

I have been at sea too many years of my life, but long ago. A dreary place, the sea--dark and deep, nasty in the extreme at times, tranquil at others. This piece is powerful enough to bring it back to me in stark reality. One of my novels in an historical sea saga. It lacks depth, my book. I wish I had known of your work before I wrote it, for it surely would have been better with inspiration from your poems of the sea.

A fantastic tale of the sea and the rogue wave. I have a photo of one my brothers used to tell me about it when they were at sea. Great collab, you two!

On one hand, this is almost frightening. A horror story. But if you look at it metaphorically, it is very sensual. I imagine, to a seafaring people, the sea is quite the maiden. ~ Sara

Such beautiful quatrains of life force, Tinka...like swimming in the aorta of the world. The real attachment here with Rogue is very personal and emotional...where the soul reclines on the surface...Rogue by name, folklore of Boukes & Sheridan...upper tier entry, Tinka...be well always...Blessed Be.

Love,
Sage

As a sailor myself

Two things did I fear most......

Seeing my sailboat sailing away from me on autopilot.

Or my boat going down with an upright keel.

(and sharks fins swimming around)

Beautiful tale of the sea Tinky and Lance
