My mind tends to drift
Away from reality
Into day dreams of fantasy
Where butterflies
Whisper sweet melodies
As thier wings flutter
In the breeze
The kaleidoscope hues
That blest their wings
Seem to sing sweet songs
Dazzling my short attention span.
Young male lizards
Battle like gigantic dinosaurs
For the territory they prey within
And for the rights to mate
As they interlock
Jaw to jaw
In sham battle
Where the only injuries suffered
Was their pride
The loser cowardly, side steps
Away
I considered myself blest
To have witnessed Nature
At her best.
The air was filled with love bugs
Embraced
Locked in mating rituals
some panicked in horror
As they yelled, in tiny whispers
Alarmed at the sight
Of a huge ugly
Black hairy spider
With strange white markings
On it's back, indicating
Hey! Look at me, I am
Venomous
So hideous, she even gained
My respect
I sprayed her, into submission
Allowing me to step on her
With a booted foot
Cheers of victory
I heard
As the happy love bugs
Celebrated
For now they'll live
To love another day.
