What's Up Dude?

I was absorbed with my writing At my computer I noticed a small dark shadow By my feet Moving slowly like a ball of dust Caught in a wind stream at floor level Floating aimlessly in the air When I focused down It was a tiny mouse I don't fear mice So I sarcastically asked him What's up Dude, are you lost? He replied, yes hungry too At that time I was feeding my face With a delicious raisin muffin I placed a crumb near him He ate it, thanking me I said, you are quite welcome little buddy I held a raisin, as he nibble at it He said, I really appreciate this I was starving Inquiringly I asked him Where do you live at? With a tear in his eyes, he replied My mommy Just chased me out of our nest She said, I had to fend for myself Well I said, And doing great you are He we are You me and the computer You are welcome to stay As long as you stay out of sight And my wife's way She's not like me You mess with her, she'll show you The light of truth What is that, little Dude asked? Well, for us it's the pearly gates For you Would be Disney Land. By: Willia Bonilla 4/27/03

I had a mouse around myself recently. I haven't heard him scurrying around lately. I hope he's alright. Live and let live. Great poem.
