Busy office, typewriters click,
paperwork...God, it’s inches thick.
Telephones ring the dollar sign,
Take line two, I’m on the line.
Bosses rushing, get me this,
I need it fast, the line just clicked.
Telephone company, blast them all,
they do it every other call.
It’s raining out, the sky is grey,
Inside these walls, a busy day.
It’s warm in here, but the air is stale,
sometimes I feel like I’m in jail.
I look out to the mountain heights,
while getting freight rate papers right.
I put them in the bosses hands,
he then decides and makes the plans.
I work along with others too,
They let me know what’s right to do.
A major decision comes my way,
I tell the man he’s out all day.
Yes, kind sir, he will be in,
come sunshine, rain, through thick or thin.
Tomorrow morning, bright and gay,
Yes, I’ll make sure he calls your way.
Here’s my number, take it please,
and file it where he’s sure to see.
The day is slowing down a bit,
Close to four, near time to quit.
And off I go to home and rest,
another one down, I passed the test.
And glad to be in my own place...
tomorrow is another day.

It is a poem written by an alert observer of daily activities. It is balanced with knowledge and emotion stirred with the spoon of imagination.
"Working Mand's Blues" follows the beats of the heart and the sounds of daily life.
I Salute the Author.
Thank You.
