I love the serenity of nature in a stream up in North Georgia...with a flyrod. Nothing like it in this world.

A Taste for Trout

The trees whisper silence as the breeze kiss leaves so fine
And distant creeks are bubbling with Rainbow wishes...mine.
If I had my fly rod and a creel nearby to keep...
The wonder of this nature and the beauty of this creek
The sushi of an artist with the colors of the sky
Dine upon the richness in God's aquarium by and by...
I'd sate my thirst for fishing... feed on nature's gift,
Upon tastes for ears ...my eyes and buds that gently shift...
My thoughts upon the clip-clop of hooves upon the rocks
Then gaze upon a regal stag that's come by me to stop
His eyes of nature locked upon this woman of the earth...
Thank God for joy and wonder...for nature and her worth
I kiss the thought of tasting trout good bye for it is clear...
The best that nature has for now is beauty and this deer
I'm amazed at his stature with the stillness of this creek...
It affords us to listen to each others' heart that beats
We know that we are special for we honor and we trust
And walk the paths of yesterday in respect for nature must...
Be kept within the boundaries of heavens here on earth...
We realize the wonderment, us two, for we have birthed,
Understanding within reason...between me and this here deer...
And we promise through eyes quietly to keep the peace that's here.

It's not about trout, but the beauty nature bestows on us--if we only stop, look, and listen. Brautiful.

Nothing like fly fishing to soothe your soul
and escape the everyday worries of life. Great!

This poem made me think of the prayers Native American hunters shoot up to the skies when about to strike, paying respect to the spirit of their prey and beseeching Creator the blessing for their action (never a kill for no reason). Creator is aware that mankind in this low energy state plane must find ways to survive even if this denies other species the same. But in linear time and space such a request is never without consequence. The hunters must find reason to live and give meaning to their life when request are granted by Creator. And sometimes our request are not granted. This never is without reason, always aimed at correcting our misinterpretations. This is the true beauty of nature that cares for us even after we harmed it to incredible extent.

Brings a longing for spring and fishing right into my head, Sue, though I don't fly fish, caught too many trees and even a few people when I tried it so stick to spinning gear now.
