Weathermen/women are much like doctors. They give a good guess with what they have to work with. Somedays they win and other times it's a misdiagnosis.

The weather man says rain
A mere chance of five percent
Yet what is outside my window
Is liquid and cloud sent
Its been this way all morning
Gray clouds cloak the sun
It's a quiet kind of tender rain
Spun gently as it comes
As thin as a mist in fog
As gentle as a kiss
All in liquid nourishment
Its very hard to miss
Five percent the fluids
Developed then spread out
The percentages go further
When rain is thinned about
Into a mist of dampness
Wrapping like a sponge
Weather is a mystery
And often comes undone
For gurus of the medias
Are left with just a guess
When nature has the final word
And all are quietly blessed.

Reviews of "Weather Calls For Rain...at Five Percent"
I like this line: Shoveled ten inches of 'partly cloudy' from my drive this morning.

They do, do their best don't they? We need a bit more rain here. They claimed lots of rain last week. One day, light fall. Loved the sunshine :-) Cute write.

A notoriously difficult and unpredictable field to venture into, many a reputation has been won or lost in that unstable profession !..
I admire those seasoned professionals who read the weather, and can connect in a confident and upbeat manner with their viewers, it sometimes can make your day !
I love the whimisical and dreamy effect you are able to put on all your compositions, the hallmark of a consummate artist...
My leanings are towards warm, sunny lingering summer days !...Lols

Love the limerick lilt that adds to the chuckles of your whimsical poem! You have them pegged right, but then they don't know who the real director of the show is;-)
LOL--I wanted to be a meteorologist! Seriously: what stopped me was my lack of math skills. Oh, and being stormphobic (I'd be the one on the TV, yelling, "We're all gonna diiiiiiiiiiiie." LOL
This brings back a memory: one time, the Mansfield, Ohio experts were calling for beautiful blue skies. Look out the window, and guess wha' happenin'? A hail storm! (Not huge hail, but back then, it was rare for it to hail.) Anyway, I call the weather office; told them it was hailing. They argued with me and said it wasn't; I told them to look out the window. They told me they didn't HAVE a window at the forecast office! Guess they stepped outside, because very shortly, they revised the forecast to include thunderstorms with hail. LOL
An excellent, humor filled write, very well penned. 100 per cent chance of creative genius!! :)
I have another saying: the reason they call it a practice is because they haven't perfected it yet. Goes for doctors as well as weathermen. Thanks for my grins this evening. Enjoyed this one.
