~~~ This is a picture of The Tybee Lighthouse. One of my favorite places, my daughter, Mariah's favorite places and J.Allen Wilson and his wife's favorite places.~~
Nature is like man with inbred fears. We are like a gentle rain or a raging storm.
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
-Nelson Mandela
Poem Artwork
The amazing sand that drifts and flows form granulated streams
It perks the ears and animates the focus of my dreams
Earthly canvas...flowing palette...tides with moving tunes
Fancy footprints...seagull cries...fences on the dunes
Shadows of this evening...streaks of marigolds
Sunsets washing golden hues...silent sighs...untold
Happiness...resounding wash...bleaching Tybee sands
Symphony of nature calls securely from her hands
Surrounding problems disappear as Tybee Lighthouse looms
The visuals here this afternoon speak volumes...whispered tunes
The greatest masters cover days with thoughtful spent arrays
They orchestrate harmony with palms that swish and sway
The tides that roar when coming in give power with each thrust
The echoes of a passing storm shock moments as light burst
Across the heavens darkness forms and generators turn
Then nature gives a light show for rhythm with a burn
The decorated heavens...before held marigolds
Just now are opened wonders as teardrops drape the cold
Consistent roads of electrons send tracers dodging stars
When spotted clouds of reservoirs open from afar
The beauty of this evening is owed to Mother Earth
For if I'd have my rathers...would be for simple worth
The wonder of a simple day with sunlit golden hues
The rain and power jerking tears from gray clouds which were blue
The colors of a masterpiece that changes everyday
Awe from me this humbled girl...who wasn't asked to play
The front row seat of mystery for the greatest show on earth
Its watching change in a day and knowing of its worth
The strategies of a storm...the roadway of time's light
The focus of a sunset ceding to a stormy night.
The greatest show on Earth as penned from your front-row seat. Am passing this on to some lighthouse lovers I know.
A spectacular write Susan....with all that is your beloved Savannah and Tybee...as smooth as the wind in the live oaks and the wet sand beneath your feet...a caucaphony of color and sound and the ocean.
Love, Taylor
A pleasure to read... your poetic way with words ever present. Thank you for a rare look at one of my favorites, too. Our Georgia has much to offer... including a fine poet, now living in Macon, with her heart in Savannah and environs.
The beauty of nature is boundless beyond compare, yet most of us are too busy to notice or take time to try to experience the feel of it, That beauty has a mood to it that most of us never attain. If we would only take the time, we might gain a greater understanding of ourselves. Bravo for the Mandela quote. I believe we would be all powerful if not for the fact that we are continually taught to fear "Those things greater than us" as we have been since childhood. We should never fear nature and we should never fear those in control. I believe that we as individuals are the strongest forces in our existance. Very insightful writing. Pierre.
Ah, the duplicity of it all... we, perhaps, consistently fall on one side of the coin or the other, in terms of habitual temperamental orientation, but how SWEEEEEEEET to taste of the other side. I have a bookmark with Nelson Mandela's inaugural speech printed upon it which includes the quote you mention... it makes me weep. Tear-jerking indeed, Susan... in the most beautiful way. Bless you and TY Kate xx
Your senses were wide open during this lovely pen Susan. And I agree with Sir Peter ... you are a natural poet indeed.
This write reminded me of sitting quietly next to a gently flowing stream and watching what the current brings past your eyes.
In friendship and Poetic vision ...
Simple pleasures. Simple sights. Simple probably is always the most gratifying. We try to outdo nature, but in the end, nature is always the winner . . . Like here.
