There's nothing like Mother nature's power plays!!!
Susan*
You sense when a great storm approaches
It rambles and shakes from the floor
Feels like horses stampeding
Just nature marching once more
The awesome drips that are speeding
Like bullets when rain hits the roof
Its hard to quiet your heartbeat
When drops are like horses hooves
They seem to be chasing their shadows
The shadows being the clouds
The darkness of forces approaching
Thunder that threatens...out loud
Flares of natures ambition
Feeding the earth with such force
Spears of light...ammunition
Threatening us all on her course
Marching like Sherman she broaches
The marshes that lead to the sea
Afterward calming her creatures
The animals, birds and then me
The calm after she leaves us
Its heaven smitten with greens
Limes and colors of emeralds
Washed over and smelling so clean.
Susan, your gifted way with words make this stormy poem one that reflects what we all have been witnessing this spring, and you
have put it into a fascinating poetic kaleidoscope! Miss you!
Love,
Eileen

A great write of the storms that pass over many of us this time of year. yesterday was neat here with storms passing over three times with those great breaks of sunshine in between where you look out your window to sun shining brightly on the back acres all sparkly with fresh rain, bright green leaves busting forth from the moisture and the finish of the picture is the heavy black clouds still covering my view of the skies. What a way to return to posting with this standing ovation quality write dear Susan. It is fantastic and very powerful but with an ending that is soothing and warm. Love it.
Storms can stir such deep emotions within us, Susan. I remember how my Grandmother, deathly afraid of electrical storms, would always sit on our sofa with her back to the window, so as not to look outside. For some, the emotion is fear; for others, the emotion brough forth during a storm is one of creativity. You've shown that, here.
A storm of a poem... hard hitting as those raindrop bullets.
You bukld a theater of high drama... and deliver with great lines.
Let's not have too much of that guy, Sherman, however.
The hot of Phoenix hasn't overcooked your brain, for this is an
excellent poem with highly imaginative scenes.
I declare it a winner! - Bill
I love the fallout of this poem, Susan. The Dark Rider imagery of the storm being replaced with the refreshing brights of the ensuing calm. Seems very Northern-hemisphere mythic somehow. Celtic, certainly. Strong and powerful limbs to this write, muscular and sleek with its potent nature imagery. TY Kate xx
Intriguing personification of nature at its most awesome. We tend to relegate anything to do with nature to mere circumstance or role of token actor in writing but here in this write it is us humans that are circumstantial to the mighty work of nature as subject.
There is nothing in our puny power to stop its will.
Explore the mystery of how nature makes unexpected gifts of creative wonders to an unsuspecting caregiver one late night and early morning in southeastern Georgia, USA.

Beautiful capture of Nature's cleansing process; well done! I do love a good storm (unless it goes tornadic). Well done!
