New Years In

Every new year for the last twenty some years my wife and I have been out all night dancing and partying except for this one. However I could muster up enough energy to attend church 10 untill midnight.

I swear by the hair on my chinny chin chin,
I hardly ever spend a new years in.
But here I sat,
right where I'm at,
twiddling my toes,
and peeping over the tip of my nose.

I feel like dancing,
maybe even romancing,
but at the moment there's no chancing.
Home on the range,
for me on new years this is strange.

Next new years this will certainly change,
but for now here I sit,
yes this is it.
Dullest new years I've ever had,
but I'm not all the way sad.
My bodies healing,
so I'll slowly go on dealing.
