Crystal lake
such a wonderful place
waters sweet and clear
sparkles to the deep
beautiful and alive
never goes to sleep
the wild life play
drinking from the water
here they'll always stay

Then the people came
the animals went away
crystal lake turned brown
now no one comes around
the birds don't sing
now they cry
such a wonderful place
we ruined you and I

Chester,
Great write, but one that upsets me. I love the outdoors and nature. We need all we can get for things to keep in balance.

There is a lake near where I live, Lake Ouachita, that is protected -- no housing or businesses allowed except for a couple of areas that grandfathered in. The water is still so very clear you can see to the bottom in even very deep water. These lovely places must be maintained! Liked this poem and its message.
