Two wings of the rcently formed transitional government in Somalia are on collision course. War winds started to blow again in this unfortuante country of ours. One group is camping in Jowhar 90kms away from the capital city while the other faction is in stationed in Mogadishu. Over the previous 15 years we lost no less than a million peopel died, another million went to the camps as refugees while hundreds of thousands were killed by diseas and malnutrition. There are others who are sufering in their camps as displaced populations. Now another war is coming into sight. God save us.
When the gap gets wider
When the rift grows deeper
When the tension builds stronger
clash is an inescapable conclusion

Please avoid further bloodshed
All people of planet Earth must choose between peace and war; sadly
too many consider war a viable means to resolve disputes. I join you,
abdi-Noor in your prayer for peace in Somalia and the rest of the world!

Looking back over the decades the terrible conditions have never
changed -from one Power to Another and terrible conflicts between the various groups……………
After the end of the Cold War the Super Powers turned their backs away from the area. With Soviets gone it has now declined into the terrible place it is.
I often look puzzled when this subject comes up in Parliament-the answer appears to be we are doing all we can. It even took a hit from the recent Tsuami.
Your right to raise these terrible problems of Africa
I am so sad to hear this, Abdi-Noor. Another civil war in Somalia will not make the situation there any better. If only one of the factions really had the interest of the people in their hearts, perhaps they could be victorious and the people finally be fed on hope and delivered into freedom. A most hear-wrenching write. I pray that Somalia will be spared.
