My history is scattered on the floors of despondency
Our national heritage has been destroyed
Libraries and museums were terribly looted
Every piece lies somewhere I know not of
I want to reconstruct my dismantled past
I visit Libraries and Cultural centers
They are the memory of my drained brain
And to retrieve a portion I must seek authorization
I beg others to give me some references
I should not blame anybody for the loss
I should blame myself for destroying myself
Somali history is being melted in the heat of anarchy
It is drained into murky rivers of crime
The worst thing happening to us is not
losing a country
But losing a long chain of rich history
