September 19 2010 is the Swedish Election Day. Immigrants especially those from Somalia are rarely seen in the business and employment sectors and on behalf of them I appeal for the future winners of the September elections to give attention to the huge immigrant population in Sweden. As an immigrant myself, employment is my priority concern as I currently live on State welfare which covers my basic needs to survive in this situation of deep international economic crisis. I want to contribute to the nation´s income by working and earning money just like any other. Mr. Candidate will you bring hope to the immigrants if you win in the elections. If yes then we can make a big difference in the voter turnout.
I wrote this poem shortly after meeting with Fredrik, Chairman of Macken Växjö at the Växjö Bibliotek on 10 August 2010 to discuss and share ideas about business. I thank him for inspiring me to write this poem.

Dear Candidate
You have a dream of high value
You wish to win in the elections
You have a desire to lead and rule
You aspire to be in the parliament
You look forward to be a minister
Your dreams are many and multiple
But dear candidate I have a dream too
Not as big though as you may think it
But as important to you as it is to me
My dream is to be a taxpayer
If I vote for you would you give me a job?
I am an immigrant in Sweden
I can clean. I can cook. I can drive
I can also teach, tutor or translate
