walking along a loamy bank
eroded from storm after storm
a white rock catches her eye
as it juts out from the rich dark soil
on inspection and with great perplexity
she tugs until the soil gives way
from deep within the earth
and with a sudden snap
a skeletal hand escapes
shocked, and out of breath,
she drops it to the ground
a call is made, authorities investigate
thoroughly searching until nothing else is found
the hand is placed into a box
thrown onto a cluttered shelf
uncovered after all those years
its rest remains unfound
WOW, you got me. How many times have I tugged at what I thought was a pretty shell, or rock at the beach, I can now imagine what I'd have felt if one of them turned out to be a human hand. You did well with this little mystery.
Now, it's getting on about bedtime on the east coast. Why you gots to come along, Sar Coslett, and give me something creepy to think about? You needs a spankin'!

Ah, yes, and she grew into an old woman, her and the hand. There were strange and vicious rumors about her and that hand. I didn't believe them though. LOL
