They say there’s a high road around here somewhere,
I just refuse to take it.
Preferring the machete approach
and a good pair of sturdy shoes
to help me walk a path of my choosing
on a trail that I have created
for others to follow.
In the meantime I’ll keep on trekking,
flipping books open
ripping out their spines
rearranging the pages
knowing in all those words
something must make sense
for you and me
as we keep trying to fall in, not out of love
looking for that perfect moment
when we fit right.
