Envelope me tight.
Yesterday was chilled by strong, northern winds
which swept harshly as they snaked ‘round the bends;
their icy fingers raking end to end.
It whispers words and thoughts once thought ‘token’ …
an epoch regulated to mem’ries
where yesterday’s been;
both its joy, the grim.
Loving words ripple, whistle by, I sigh.
My tender heart pings, throbs, as you wing by
on mission from that mansion in the sky.
The swirl of each flake, pristine … no mistake
you gave everything … just as you would take.
Why’d yesterday end?
All through the day, night,
yesterday oozed, surfed warm, southern skies.
Perfumed by flowers, I gaze in your eyes
a glorious angel … no human guise.
The wind whispers your name and so do I;
my dam breaks and unholy tears stream by.
Has it been that long
that you were done wrong?
In my mirror I see an old lady;
when I look at you I see my baby
even though you’re spirit with no body.
Why’d yesterday end?
You travel the world—
empowered by faith … east, north, south and west.
You were my gift; God sends only the best
and I was honestly honored, quite blessed.
He makes us perfect … we make our own stress
and cripple lives with our unholy mess.
Let me soar, wing too …
want to be with you.
I am uplifted, at peace with all men;
I’ll leave this body with a smile, grin
…when my today ends;
be one with the winds.
