Icy, gray tears, chilled steel slicks,
slide down pinkish-lavender cheeks,
oh, how the hurt reeks.
Flickering, hope has withered, died,
leaving me with nothing left inside.
The book of life screamed, pages torn,
as one heart was shorn into two.
I am missing you.
Are we short a chapter, finished?
Why do I feel so diminished?
Where is the laughter and tears shared,
have they hidden under your skin?
Mine are simply cold.
The gray slimed, hugging my thin spine,
on my soul, paused, as if to dine.
Teardrops have mustered and clustered
daring me to end this mis'ry.
Is it wrong to wish
to be cherished, loved by someone
when the freezing ice age is done?
My eyes leak, I am not crying,
but trying to make sense of you.
What am I to do?
There's a fire burning within
wanting to feel human again.
I can't be posed like a puppet;
the strings that you used have slipped, gone.
Light me, a candle,
and let the flames melt icy, gray
tears, chilled steel, completely away.
Love needs two to burn.

I am proud of you.
so elegantly raw and sad....pulled at my heart strings!!!
Well written !!!
And I hope the feelings of sadness are temporary for you.
