In memoriam of Mom; Laura Mae (Conley) Griffith, born Sept. 17th, 1917 in Paintsville, Kentucky and died June 25, 1983 in Dayton, Ohio.

As a girl I was ashamed
of patches here and there
and of the hand-me-downs
that were practically worn bare
If I could have Momma
to walk alongside me
I'd gladly wear those patches
for all the world to see
Those patches were a treasure
though I didn't know it then
I give all my fancy gowns
If she'd walk with me again
Our Daddy wasn't with us
The burdens were yours alone
You cried, you worked, you managed
To raise us on your own
If I could have Momma
to walk alongside me
I'd gladly wear those patches
for all the world to see
Those patches were a treasure
though I didn't know it then
I give all my fancy gowns
If she'd walk with me again
Even ill and feeling low
You held your head up high
Momma, we loved you so
We never thought you would die
If I could have Momma
to walk alongside me
I'd gladly wear those patches
for all the world to see
Those patches were a treasure
though I didn't know it then
I give all my fancy gowns
If she'd walk with me again
