Yes, the Lost World inside those old pictures. Becoming as inconceivable to our great-grandchildren, who have never seen such a world of work, hardship, loss--and very few material possessions. A beautiful word picture; I can see them.

Excellent poem and a joy to read. You have painted a very clear picture of this snap shot with well chosen words once again. I'd suggest one changed word only but my 2 cents worth added to a million dollar poem isn't worth bothering with.

I really would, the man standing a head taller than his horse is a Hero! Most people would shun to marry a woman having had other husbands, and other mens children....A Hero of Love

This writing painted a nice country scene of a Mother and her children. Life sure hadn't been good to her but she had children to care for and a home she had to provide for them. Many images captured in this fine writing.

Vivid image from the past. It's easy to imagine the tough life this woman and wife (three times) has had through the expressions of her children. The third husband hasn't had it easy either since he is a Civil War veteran, the bloodiest war Americans fought. It's easy to see that he may not be the easiest husband to live with. He probably suffers from PTSD.
