SATE THE DRIEST WASTE
 
The earth lay dry and waiting
Craving the kiss of life
Jilted at the alter
A bride but not a wife
 
Parched and cracked mosaic
Heart split burst of pain
Faith in love's renewal
On first kiss of rain
 
Sweet absorbent moisture
To soften hardened case
And penetrate the layers
Sate the driest waste
 
All this from a raincloud
That happened to pass by
Who looked upon the deadened earth
And had the heart to cry

I started to write a poem about rain,(by request) but somehow landed up with this.

Lyrical and beautiful, like the Bride she undoubtedly is, Anita. So much compassion and detail stunningly sculpted into the most poignant of tales... makes ME weep to think about it. Needs to be taken up by Friends Of The Earth. One of your very best, I think; delicately powerful.

T-shirt: logo must now be out of date but plenty of other stuff on website searches... My kids go to a huge Convention late August and could pick something up for you then, if you prefer?? Absolutely no problemo. LOL K xx ... sorry... wrong slot for this...

You go where you heart/mind lead you. There'll always be a poem about rain, but not so many as special as this.

Well I think your muse is pushing you in the right direction because this one is one of your best and speaks so clearly and forcefully that you can feel the dry air being touched by the rain.

I am so glad that you were diverted to this quite magnificent poem, which hits home hard....
