Acceptance does not mean running away from struggles you face, it means to accept all that comes and view it as circumstance not you. For we are all faced with complexities of life
~Lily of Lough Neagh~

Poem Artwork

 A Snowflake

We are unique in all that we are

For we cannot be given

A single rating legitimately

For what we encounter accordingly

Our essence is fallible and distinct

Not equaling another in comparison

Only shared is our own humanity

Overgeneralization of self leads to insanity

For like the snowflake we are

Drifting toward the final destination

Some land hard bruising their delicate form

Others gently glide alighting easily

Some are compact into others

Others alight on glass to see

The world as it is in their view

With others obtaining knowledge

Linking to preferential self philosophy

But when the snowflake realizes

Their uniqueness

Then can self-acceptance be obtained

For the snowflake is to be admired

For it holds beauty unto itself

Like no other snowflake

And can be loosened from the compact others

Set adrift by the gentle wind

To carry them away to constructiveness

Knowing they are constantly changing

Learning to judge only circumstance not self

Knowing that although never perfect

For no snowflake can be judged perfect

But internalizing their self-acceptance

Through hard work and energy

Obtain their beauty unto themselves

Perhaps not perfectly or for all time

But will shine brightly without resignation

For the legend they have become in the end

Well done, may be deep for many however. All must accept themselves as they are including our not so favorable traits. Yes, no two people are alike and we must accept ourselves, learn, sweep out what we don't care for in ourselves and improve. Becoming our own best friend and not judge ourselves for circumstances out of our control.

Really good one Carolee

What a philosophical depth in this master piece.
Every verse is a wisdom in itself and worth a contemplation before reading the next one.

Brilliant Carolee and at a unique level

The fragility of our nature and constanting interaction with others does align differences in our makeup forming thruoghout our existance, acceptance of this is escential to sanity if not always inner calm. you have given all a beautiful example of this in the well penned vision you have given us here. encore.

I very much liked the snowflake as a metaphor for humans, because no matter how tough we think we are, reality shows us that we are as fragile as that snowflake. Like the snowflake, we to are not perfect, and no matter how much we yell to the heavens we are, reality again shows us just how fallible we truly are. Nice work,Carol.
