I am imagination. I can see what the eyes cannot see. I can hear what the ears cannot hear. I can feel what the heart cannot feel. ~Peter Nivio Zarlenga~

Poem Artwork

Have you ever stood outside looking to the sky
the trees, bare branches and clouds overhead
have you ever asked, where do I go from here?
Another day of unknowns ahead doth fly

A single snowflake drifts by, watch it descend
as though you wait for a spectacular event
an awakening of sorts, but not today
leaving you to walk on a tightrope to contend

Feeling like the child who stands before Lincoln
Awaiting an embrace or words of wisdom
But in his stony like form he sits afore you
gazing outward over the land thinking

What it is we can pluck from within
and merely toss to the wind
strings of our imagination?
Or our emotions, which wear us, thin

Shall we create something from nothingness
opaque lacking hues of expression
as the mad painter tosses buckets in air
splatterings called abominableness?

Or do you look to your heart and say
I know what I must do
no matter how hard to construe
pulling you out of the gray

This poem and what it expresses speaks right into my soul. I find it very meaningful and it awakens my thoughts and emotions. It reminds me of one of my poems that I have posted here entitled, "Beauty." I am not sure why but it is not every poem that grabs me by the soul. Thank you, Carol. Love and best wishes,

Regis

Many forces come against us during the extent of the day. Your poetic ponderings are braided with palpable imagery. Especially like: "the mad painter tosses buckets in air" Peace ...

Dear lady Lily, you have a depth of imagination. You also possess the ability to state what all have asked. You also possess the ability to think deeply and exercise wisdom. Another great offering you have presented to us.

I bow and tip my hat to you

As your poem points out, emotions are a powerful influence in our lives. Facts are emotionless, and therefore neutral and not at all exciting. That's why we seek out charlatans of great arrogance like Peter Nivio Zarlenga and believe in them, regardless of their mental state, because it is risky and exciting.

As the snow flurries of this morning render a fleeting world to
winter..doth we share our thoughts in emotions. Excellent poetry
to imagination strings.

Deep philosophical questions, each one worth a long contemplation.
What a wisdom, what a profundity.
And what a self-conquest when you come out of your contemplation with the last verse,
stronger than ever before.

I’m speechless because of the great wisdom you spread around Carol

This is excellent poetry, with thoughts that rumble under the conditions outside. As Jane said, "we do know what we must do, don't we?"

Thank you for a poem that makes others think again.

This poem speaks through more than stings of imagination, this poem speaks wisdom, thoughts, and recognition of the inner self through thoughts. Through this magnificent piece you have opened a door.

You ask a lot of questions here, Carol, and as far as the first one, "have you ever asked, where do I go from here?" I have, but it took me a lot of living to get around to that one, because I was too busy trying to stay alive and sane. I'm alive, not too sure about the sane part. I know this, if I know nothing else, that we have built within us a reservoir of self determination that supplies us the courage and the wherewithal to make the day a success. Of course success means different things to different people. I contend that I am successful because I am still breathing and doing what I love, writing the written word. Great poetry, Carol, questions asked as food for fodder.

Oh My dear Lily,
This is such a deeply moving poem. Puts your reader's mind into a deep thinking process.
I have been very much a hibernating soul this winter. Other than my design work, I have been in a cocoon of sorts. I want to tell you, that this poem moved me so much, I feel motivated to go for a long brisk walk this evening!
I have missed connecting with nature and my dear friends here on AD.

The butterfly has broken out...
Much peace, love and light,
Amber
